A Christmas meal with Friends

Nothing can be much more fun than having friends over....asking everyone to bring something and enjoying the evening and company. We had our friends Bill and Barbara and Rod and Linda over with every intention of walking the streets of Sunset Hills and enjoying the beauty of the lighted balls.

Dinner took so long to pull together, we never left the dining room and kitchen and hearth.

We had a lovely evening filled with interesting conversation and wonderful food.

Bon Appetit. Pork Tenderloin, Roasted Sweet and Russet Potatoes, Cranberry Casserole & Salad. As always -- YUM.

Blueberry Chipolte Chutney

Last August when blueberries were plentiful, I found a recipe in the Symphony Guild Cookbook. It was delicious.
Kind of sweet - kind of hot and really terrific

Bargain Tomatoes

The couple we call 'the old hippies' had these wonderful heirloom tomatoes on sale. There were a few blemishes on them but for they were just wonderful for making a fresh salsa. They were SO beautiful I just had to take a photo.

Fried Green Tomatoes by Peeps

The 'real' Farmer's Market near Historic Aycock is one of Greensboro's true treasures. The farmers many of whom have been there as long as I have been in town tempt us with a lot of wonderful things. This morning there was a fine basket of Green Tomatoes with a lovely suggested recipe for making them. Peeps was the adventurous one and fixed them all by himself. YUM

Marinated Tomatoes

One of the best treats of the Farmers Market is this really nice lady who brings recipe cards (see bright green card in photo at right) She promised me that her dressing recipe is better than mine - and it was. What a great treat fresh veggies grown with love.
